  • Celebrating 10 years of “October Sky Festival”

        The Oliver Springs Historical Society will host its 10th Annual October Sky Festival on October 21, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The festival is located at Arrowhead Park on Kingston Ave. in Oliver Springs. Admission is free.
    All the proceeds from the festival go to the on-going museum project. Be sure to stop by the Museum/Events Center at the corner of Winter Gap Road and Kingston Ave. during the festival, to see festival dollars at work.

    Always tell the truth

        Going to kindergarten was a major step in the life of a five year old. My brother, three years older, told me everything I needed to know to be successful. My mother and father also instructed me. It came in one word, ‘obey.’ Whatever the teacher asked of me, I was not to hesitate, but do it as promptly as I could.

        The emergency room doctor seemed to feel my whole situation needed more help than he could give. As I’m writing this, it just occurred to me that he might have thought Joe had harmed me in some way. Of course, Joe told them about the surgery and that explained my bruises, but they still treated him badly, I thought.

        John Robbins, field representative from the office of State Rep. John Mark Windle will be at the Morgan County Court House from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6, to assist with constituent claims and questions.   • Acoustic jam session held on second Thursday of each month

        An acoustic music jam session will be held the second Thursday night of each month at the American Legion Building in Wartburg from 6-10 p.m. Everyone is welcome to bring their acoustic instrument and join in or just come and listen. The only rules that apply are to have love for God, country, music and good clean fun.
