Improving our content

As we are getting ready to enter a brand new year, Brian Langley, Rhonda Laughter and I are busy looking at Morgan County News, both in print and online, to make it even better for you, our readers.

In the coming weeks, you should begin to see some differences. In fact you should have already noticed some additions to the paper, such as: property transfers from the register of deeds, incident reports from the sheriff's office and marriages from the county clerk's office. All of that information is part of the public record and I appreciate the office holders working with us so that we can make it available to our readers.

We are in the process of coming up with a way to add the courts to our already growing public record. Currently I cover the "big" trials and some of the rest falls to the wayside. Some of you have told me you would like to know how even the smaller cases are resolved and I am committed to making that happen, hopefully in the very near future.

I'm proud of this website. I enjoy the opportunity it provides for us to bring you the news in a slightly different way. I'm attempting to put the full county commission meeting up in video and with some tweaking over the last couple of months I finally succeeded in November. Since our county government meets on Monday nights and the new content goes up on Wednesdays, the video from those meetings may not make it until Thursday or even Friday. I'm still learning the bells and whistles of iMovie and I will get it down. Unfortunately, I can't control the room or how loud or softly the commissioners may speak or if they are hidden behind someone or something so it may not always be the best quality but hits on the video are already showing that you want to view it.

For now I haven't attempted to put school board meetings up. The sound has not been good on the video I've made so far, but again I will work on that in the coming weeks.

If you have ideas you would like to share, I am open to your suggestions. Give me a call or drop me an email.

And ... thank you for reading whether it's in print or online.
