Save-A-Lot Food Store is target for bombing

    At about 1 a.m. Thursday morning, Jan. 12, 1989, many folks living in Wartburg were awakened by a loud noise which turned out to be a bomb going off at Save-A-Lot Food Stores.
    Agents of the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Division of the Department of Justice and agents from the U.S. Treasury Department investigated at the store along with local law enforcement officers.
    They believe that probably three sticks of dynamite were used to make the bomb which caused about $30,000 in damages.
