While the Lady Bulldogs won their game against the Lady Highlanders the second half, the Bulldogs struggled against Scott in the second and ultimately fell 80-54 to the Highlanders.

Scott outscored 18-16 in the first quarter and 18-12 in the second to take a 36-28 lead at the end of the half, but the game was still well within the Bulldogs’ reach.

The Highlanders were virtually unstoppable in the third quarter and pulled away with a 63-39 lead at the end of the frame thanks to Caleb Ball and Logan Goodman. Ball ended up leading the Highlanders with 19 points. Goodman only had 10 total points at the end of the game, but scored eight of them in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs had a lot of ground to make up in the fourth quarter after being outscored 27-11 in the third. They were able to put together a decent quarter offensively, but still struggled to stop Scott and allowed the Highlanders to outscore them 20-15.

Dillon Fountain was the only Bulldog to reach double digits with 21 points. Caleb Constant, who has kept pace with Fountain for the most part so far this year, was limited to just seven points in the loss.

The Bulldogs are 1-2 after the 80-54 loss. District play begins at the end of the week for the Bulldogs with an away game at Coalfield on Dec. 1 and at Oakdale on Dec. 5. Wartburg split the regular season contests with the Yellow Jackets and defeated them in the District 4 Semifinal game last year. Wartburg defeated the Eagles the first time the two teams met last season, but lost 65-63 the last time they faced. Coalfield is 0-2 so far this year, while Oakdale is off to a hot 3-0 start.
