  • Support groups are positive

    Why support groups?

Domestic violence is no more about violence than rape is about sex. Domestic violence is the intentional, systematic tearing down of a person’s self-worth by an abuser to gain power and control over their choices and behavior. Over time, an abuser uses many tactics (such as fear, intimidation, isolation) to strip their victim of self-esteem, independence and confidence.

  • Coalfield

Join us Sunday morning, Oct. 21, for our church Homecoming. Pleasant Grove has been sharing the Word of God with the Coalfield community for more than 150 years, and we welcome all to our Homecoming service. Bro. Don Long will lead the worship, and we will have plenty of singing and fellowship.
The annual Coalfield Homecoming was terrific this year with great weather and it was well attended. For great photos look at some sites on Facebook. Judy Spradlin and Pam Bozeman have some good shots.

  • Exploring Morgan County

October is here, and Fall festivities are just around the corner. We Tennesseans take fall seriously, so this month’s column is stuffed with adventure.
My exploration begins this weekend in Rugby. Every year, Christ Church Rugby hosts a Michaelmas Festival to kick-off the holiday season.
This will be my family’s third year participating as craft vendors. The festival is the perfect opportunity to get some early gift shopping in, while enjoying the Fall weather.
