        The flurry of socialization on this Mother’s Day this year on Facebook has shown me how acutely aware of our families and our communities we have become. I think all the tragedies that we have recently experienced as a country have deeply affected us. Maybe we are awakening to the importance of unity as a nation and the need of God in our lives. I want to thank each of you for your testimonies regarding mothers in our lives.

  • May is Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month

        The Tennessee Department of Health joined the nation on May 2, in observing the National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. This annual health observance, part of National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, was established in 2002 to remind teenagers about the importance of avoiding pregnancy, parenthood and other serious consequences of sex. In 2015, seven 15-17 year old teen girls gave birth in Morgan County.

    Morgan County Rescue Squad Fundraiser
    The Morgan County Rescue Squad will be holding its Door to Door Picture Fundraiser beginning Monday, May 21. Anyone who participates with a $20 or more contribution will receive one free 8 x 10 family portrait. You will be contacted at your residence by a representative with a letter and ID on hand from the Morgan County Rescue Squad. Thank you for your continue support.

    WECO Political Spotlight
    The WECO Political Spotlight will be held at the American Legion Post in Wartburg Wednesday-Saturday, June 20-22. Wednesday, June 20, features Circuit Court Clerk candidates; Thursday, June 21, features Sheriff candidates; and Friday, June 22, features County Executive candidates. The Political Spotlight will broadcast live on wecoradio.com, WECO FM 101.3, WECO AM 940 and WECO FM 95.5 at 7 p.m. each evening. This public is invited to attend.

        SULTANA was a Mississippi River side-wheel steamboat. On April 27, 1865, at about 2:30 a.m. in the morning about seven miles above Memphis, Tenn. the boat exploded in the worst maritime disaster in United States history.

  • Cub Scout Pack #149 visits MCSD

        Cub Scout Pack #149 has been diligently working on badge requirements. The Pack asked the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department to help out by talking with the group about Evidence Taking. The department went above and beyond what was asked of them.
