Public Safety

  • Time to prep your pets for cooler weather

It’s a fall ritual to get our homes, cars and even ourselves ready for the colder weather. How many of us, though, consider the impact of the changing season on our pets? Michele Dixon, a health and nutrition specialist with Petcurean, says there are simple things we can do to keep our pets healthy and safe through the fall and winter months. Here are some that top the list:

  • Tennessee Highway Patrol Checkpoints Scheduled

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct driver license roadside safety checkpoints during the week of Feb. 7, on Tenn. 62 at Highway 116 in Morgan County. Recognizing the danger presented to the public by unqualified drivers, troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who violate the driver license laws of Tennessee.

  • Stay safe and warm during winter workouts

Staying warm is a top priority for athletes who exercise outdoors during the winter months. While there’s no guarantee winter winds won’t test your willpower, there are some ways to stay warm when working out in colder climates.

  • Prevent your vehicle from winter damage

Winter can be an unforgiving season. Freezing temperatures coupled with snow and ice can take its toll on people who live in climates where cold weather is a fact of winter life.
While winter can test people’s patience, it also can be harsh on cars and trucks. Understanding what components of a vehicle can be compromised by dropping temperatures and snowy roads can help drivers take action to safeguard their automotive investments.
