  • Yager elected Senate Republican Caucus Chairman

        State Sen. Ken Yager was recently elected by his colleagues to serve as Chairman of the Tennessee Senate Republican Caucus. The election took place as the Caucus met in an organizational meeting in Nashville to prepare for the 111 General Assembly.
        Yager was elected on the first ballot in a three-person race for the key leadership post.

  • Yager’s Annual Chili Supper and Silent Auction set for Nov. 16

        The 25th annual Chili Supper and Silent Auction sponsored by Sen. Ken Yager is set for Friday, Nov. 16 at Roane State Community College in the Student Lounge from 4:30-7:30 EST.Proceeds from the event will go to local non-profits serving intellectually and developmentally disabled citizens.
        Country music star Jimmy Fortune, who sang with the legendary Statler Brothers for 21 years before becoming a solo artist, will perform at the event.

        A rough patch in Morgan County history was put to rest Monday evening as Sheriff Wayne Potter and County Executive Brian Langley announced they had negotiated a settlement to end the three-year-old lawsuit filed by former Sheriff Glen Freytag against Morgan County under the direction of former County Executive Glen Don Edwards.
        Langley and Potter both used the phrase “a win-win for Morgan County” in describing the settlement, and I believe that as well.
