  • Petros Senior Citizens Club to sponsor memorial plaques

        Petros residents and friends have requested that the Petros Senior Citizen’s Club revitalize a past practice of selling commemorative plaques. These commemorative plaques honor the name and spirit of your loved one, and will be lovingly mounted on an interior brick wall in the Petros Senior Center.  
        The plaque may honor the memory of deceased family member(s) or honor the life of someone significant to you or to the community.

        Morgan County Medical Center has been presented with a 2017 Quality Improvement Award from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for achieving the best overall clinical performance among all health centers, placing in the top 30 percent of the adjusted quartile rankings for Clinical Quality Measures.

        I have seen a lot of residents walking, mowing, and just generally enjoying the marvelous, unprecedented weather. A couple of tractors have even been out testing the ground. So many of us are so anxious to enjoy the sun and dry!

  • Fun Day for the Community in Oliver Springs Saturday

        On Saturday, March 24, the American Legion Post #112, Ruby’s Diner in Oliver Springs and the United States Navy Sea Cadets will host a Fun Day for the Community from 1-6 p.m.
    Entertainment throughout the day will be by Greg Johnson with his tribute to ELVIS and Kayla Lynn. Lynn will perform today and yesterday country. Fryd Chiken will entertain everyone with a variety of country, rock, with some original mixed in.

    Citizens First Banks closed Good Friday
    All branches of Citizens First Bank will be closed on Friday, March 30, in observance of Good Friday.

    Head Start accepting applications
    Morgan County Head Start has Extended Care slots available. This is a free pre-school for children ages 3-5. Free services are provided which include: disability, health, family services, nutrition, dental and transportation. For more information call 423-346-6633 or visit the office at 105 Longview Drive in Wartburg, located behind Subway.

    Applications for elderly/disabled home repair
    The Morgan-Scott Project is taking applications for home repair for the elderly and disabled. The repair work will be done by volunteer groups from all over the U.S. Call 423-965-3131 to see if you qualify. Area church groups and organizations choose the Morgan County area to do their mission work. If your organization, church or family would like to participate in a mission project, call 423-965-3131.
