Campaign signs butt up against the 100-foot campaigning boundary around the courthouse on July 21. Candidates and their supporters are often present outside the courthouse to wave and offer items to voters. Early voting will continue through Aug. 2.
Hundreds cast early votes in election

Early voting is off to a strong start in Morgan County, according to Tim Sweat, administrator of elections.

“We were up — the first day of early voting — we were up by 60-some voters [as compared to the 2010 election],” Sweat said on July 21.

Nearly 700 people had voted in three days by the time the polls closed on July 21.

The early voting process is going smoothly, Sweat said. He encourages people to vote early because citizens aren’t bound to their individual precinct — they can come to the courthouse instead.
