Letters

  • Chamber Board address issue

    Dear Editor,
This letter is being written to address the continual publicity about how the Chamber has excluded the county executive from its organization. The public has been misled on this issue.  A letter to the editor last week said that the chamber has excluded the county executive.  The letter also stated that the chamber members say they are not a government organization and therefore he is not entitled to participate.  These statements are simply not true.

  • Jones calls out County Executive

    To the Editor,
When I received my copy of the Morgan County News last week and began reading the weeks recap, I was astonished by our fearless leader, Don Edwards, and his weekly article called Executive’s Economy. I’ve read this several times and it appears it’s just his way at taking jabs at the County Commission because he can’t push them around.

  • Scarbrough applauds job done by Byrge as former editor

    Dear Editor,
It seems strange that I write to the editor of the Morgan County News not now knowing who now bears that title. Prior to this writing, I always addressed any information to the former editor, Judy Byrge, who is the subject of my letter.

  • Kries requests prayers for America

    To the Editor,
I have a serious prayer request.
There’s a lady I’ve known forever. She’s very sick. On top of that, she’s being abused by those to whom she has given everything....Lies about her abound, and seem to come from all sides. Just breaks my heart. Seems there’s nothing I can do alone but maybe, if we all join in and lift her up in prayer together, God will heal her. She turned 236 years old on July 4th, but she’s way too young to die.

  • Yeary upset about new precincts

    To the Editor,
Three weeks before the election, we received a letter from the Morgan County Election Commission informing us that our voting precinct had been changed. Needless to say we were surprised, shocked, and extremely upset.
We have lived in the same house in the Bitter Creek community for 50+ years. We live in Oakdale - plain and simple. Our children and grandchildren attend(ed) Oakdale School, and we have always voted in Oakdale.

  • Folks informed they can influence the water quality

    Dear Editor,

  • Kids want pool in Morgan Co.

    To the Editor,
Can we please ask Morgan County to build a pool for the kids of the county. So they will have something to do during the hot summer days. There is not a place for kids to play. Could we have somewhere so that we have something to do, and make it available to all kids. Let us know.

  • Smith criticizes commissioners

    To the Editor,
It is time for this county commission to get over the fact that their candidate lost the election. It is time for them to start working with the elected executive for the benefit of Morgan County.
This thing of “we’re going to make him wish that he had never run for office” and “we’re going to see that he don’t do anything” is childish; critically harmful to the work of Morgan County and shows a callous disregard for the wishes of the voters of Morgan County.

  • Johnson defends herself in reply to County Executive

    To the Editor,

  • Redmon shares his view on conduct during public meetings

    To the Editor,
After reading Don Edwards’ column in the May 23 edition of the news entitled “Edwards calls for Respectful tone.” I thought it would be good for the readers to hear a view point from a citizen and tax payer.
